We worked at it, we really did. I made special arrangements to be able to Skype in from my hotel room, Zach called in from home and Rich recorded everything at his home office. It all worked out. Or so we thought. When Rich went back to edit the podcast he found that his software had failed without warning and all he had recorded was his own audio, which might be interesting as a funny aside some day…

Alan Shimel and I are back doing our podcast again. We recorded an episode last night and should be up in the next day or so. We’ve started a podcast naming contest and we’d love your suggestions. The winner submitting the name we select will get a t-shirt with our new logo on it (including the name) and an appearance on our podcast....
After I spoke at the Information Security Summit in Ohio last month, the guys at the Security Justice podcast interviewed me and Tyler Hudak . You can listen to the archive here . It was fairly loud in the room but you’d never know it listening to the audio. Great work guys. We discuss open source software, vulnerability research and disclosure,...
Hopefully the world hasn’t been smashed by an asteroid since Sunday, since that’s when we recorded this show. Martin is off with a client, and Rich and Zach are cramming for Source Boston. Well, Rich is probably half in the bag right now since it’s his birthday, but if he isn’t too hung over he’ll be headed to Boston...
Somehow we’ve managed to get Martin, Rich, and me together on a fairly regular basis. Pretty impressive (superhero-like, even). It seems as though I was full of more beans than usual, taking a few playful jabs at Rich (something about goat smuggling) and Martin (butterfly tattoos, if I recall correctly). While we had a bit of fun, and actually...
Well, we’re back at it again. Alan and I are doing the podcast again and we are enjoying it even more. During this episode, Alan and I talk about: Is the CISO role really just a consulting gig? Microsoft Security Essentials free malware software Microsoft Forefront 2010 for Exchange and Alan’s leaving StillSecure The podcast is full...
Having escaped* the snowpocalypse/shmoopocalypse/shmowpocalypse that brought D.C. to a halt during ShmooCon 2010 , Zach was able to join Rich and I for this week’s recording. Zach had another fantastic time at this year’s ShmooCon, and so wanted to share some of that with our listeners. Be on the lookout for the recording from the Podcaster’s...
My appearance on OWASP Podcast 61 is available. The .mp3 is 36 MB. Thanks to Jim Manico for inviting me to participate. We recorded the podcast in late January. Jim asked me the following questions: Would you care to tell us how did you get into IT and what lead you into a career in information security? What keeps you busy these days? What’s...
Once again we have a wandering host; Rich has wandered off into the hinterlands of Denver (Boulder, I think) and is too busy to call in for the podcast.

Martin, Rich, and Zach talk with special guest Katie Moussouris , Senior Security Strategist at the Microsoft Security Response Center . It’s one of those glorious days we all look forward too; all of the regular hosts of the podcast are on the road and in most cases thousands of miles from home.

It sounds like a simple question, doesn’t it? Is it worth it to your organization to take credit cards online, do the rewards outweigh the risks? The Good and Bad of Wordpress, Scribefire and Wireshark
[Security]
As a security professional, I have a number of things I consider bad habits. One of these is that I let Firefox remember many of my passwords for me, at least when it comes to my low security sites. The lesson is that all too often, our passwords, user names and other sensitive information is flowing across the network unencrypted.

All parents want their kids to grow up with all the advantages of technology, but most are very weary of the dangers of social networking sites. Here is a site that caters specifically for kids with lots of filters in place (obviously not foolproof, but they did their best). How many of you have iPhone's you've installed one of the unlocking hacks on? Just in case you haven't already heard, don't install the 1.1.1 patch on the phone or it'll stop working, claiming you have an illegal SIM, no matter what SIM you put in.
