  Yeah, more copyright stuff. But, this was bugging me until I finally finished it. So, here you go. I should stem the tide now. I write for a living, I know all about intellectual property, and I've been plagiarized many times to boot. Personally, I don't care because when it comes down to it, they still come to me when they want quality. I got a video gig at Expert Village because the paintball community TOLD THEM to hire me, and isn't that the true power of the information age? the point is that in the real world, I make something, I sell it, I make something else to sell. Somehow, these people have it in their heads that they can sell and resell the same product for 75 years, and never be touched. That makes about as much sense to me as, say, a donut maker telling me the same thing. So, you get my metaphor. A really tasty one too, I might add. I also understand that the intellectual property laws are in place for a reason. But I also have a working understanding that the laws, as they are now, are broken. And this is a video making fun of the serious business type people who sit around tables and decide that some 10 year old kid putting a Linkin Park song in a video he made using World of Warcraft and "Win Movie Maker" is causing the band financial loss. 75 years plus the lifetime of the artist means we can't openly be inspired, or seek critique, or educate ourselves. If the Renaissance masters had to deal with this we wouldn't have the Mona Lisa. Copyright law needs an <b>...</b>

They have asserted that the 3rd largest ISP in Australia, iinet, has repeatedly ignored thousands of cease & desist letters, from their organisation and from others, and are an enabler of copyright infringement. Their ongoing court case in Australia is almost due for deliberations, and I thought I'd weigh in. In 2006 under the Howard (Liberal) government, Australia and the US signed off on the "Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement" (aka AUSFTA); within this legislation strong anti-circumvention laws exist & the agreement itself essentially parallels current DMCA legislation in the United States. Further, isps are protected under the existing AUSFTA under Section 17.11; specifically, 17.11.29(b). What AFACT wishes to do is make all isps monitor the activity of their customers & disconnect them if they are under the belief that they are downloading copyrighted material. That's right, AFACT have decided to go to court to try and turn conventional law on its head and make Australian isps judge, jury and executioner.
